Monadnock Expandable Baton Certification
Applicable for Monadnock, ASP and any other expandable and rigid straight batons.
Monadnock® is a well-respected and internationally known name in law enforcement education, through the Monadnock® Police Training Council. The Council's certification standards and procedures, as set forth in its curricula, are amply structured to meet contemporary legal challenges. The Council's expandable baton techniques can be quickly mastered and performed under stress, including the baton-aided, subject-control holds called armlocks. The Council's certification curricula are fully researched in terms of tactical, medical and legal consequences resulting from police intervention. A cadre of competent expert witnesses stand behind all Council Certification programs.
Basic Baton Certification
The Basic Baton Certification course deals with the blocking and striking capabilities of the straight expandable baton. Techniques include stance, patterns of movement, baton grips, baton methods of carry, baton draws, blocks, strikes and baton retention.
Upon successful completion of this course the participant will be issued a competency certification card valid for one (1) year.
Requirements: Law Enforcement, Corrections and Security Officers and Active Military personnel. Law and Security or Police Foundations Students may also be accepted. Any applicant may be refused at the trainer's discretion.

Course Length: 4 hours
Advanced Baton Certification
Advanced Certification Program is an 8-hour course that follows the same curriculum as the Basic Program (basic blocks and strikes), but also teaches control and takedown techniques to mirror the two-prong philosophy of "Protect & Restrain".
The advanced class also includes easy-to-learn, baton assisted subject restraint techniques. The advanced course adds four additional subject restraint techniques.
Upon successful completion of this course the participant will be issued a competency certification card valid for one (1) year.
Requirements: Law Enforcement, Corrections and Security Officers and Active Military personnel. Law and Security or Police Foundations Students may also be accepted. Any applicant may be refused at the trainer's discretion.

Monadnock Baton Re-Certification
Both the Basic and Advanced Monadnock Expandable Baton Certifications expire in one (1) year. To maintain skill proficiency and Monadnock support the applicant must re-certify prior to the expiration date on their Competency Card. Monadnock will not recognize or support any outdated certifications.
The re-certification course includes a review of all the essential course material. The applicant will have an opportunity to ask specific questions they may have regarding the use of the expandable baton and the use of force. The applicant must complete a written examination and a practical skill competency examination.
Upon successful completion of this course the participant will be issued a new competency certification card valid for one (1) year.
Requirements: Proof of previous Monadnock Expandable Baton Certification from a recognized Monadnock Expandable Baton Instructor.
Cost: $50.00 for Basic, $80 for Advanced (corporate group rates may be available)
Course Length: 2.5 hours for Basic, 4 hours for Advanced (these are recommended times and will depend on the proficiency of each applicant.
